Shun Lee Lunch Valentine's Treat

As a Valentine's Day treat Colin took me for lunch to Shun Lee House in St Ives and we had a wonderful meal. We have passed the entrance to this many times and had heard plenty of good reviews but had never managed to visit and it did not disappoint !!

Two glasses of pink champagne greeted us and the food was all freshly home cooked with more than ample portions.
We both had roast chicken with lovely roast potatoes, parsnips, beans, sprouts and carrots.
When it came to desserts even though we had made and eaten our choices we were invited to sample another one which was home made lemon and ginger cheesecake -an absolute delight. I declined the cheeseboard but it also looked lovely.

Terry and Paul, the lovely owners have lived in this magnificent house overlooking the Porthminster Beach and St Ives Bay for nineteen years and the views are stunning. They could not have made us feel more welcome and we were able to have our coffee and relax in the lounge afterwards.
They have two Yorkshire terriers; one called Demelza, a great Cornish name and they were friendly and greeted everyone, before dashing off.
During the meal Colin spotted a pod of dolphins out at sea and there must have been at least six or more leaping up out of the water. We had binoculars at the table to use so it was a lovely romantic touch to match our mood.

From March this year they plan to do more lunches everyday with a varied menu including a wide selection of seafood dishes and also light lunches and cream teas.

The photo below shows Porthminster beach ( not taken today ) but you can just about see Shun Lee House at the top of the hill to the far left with a cluster of other houses.
