The Lord's Prayer/ Our Father in Aramaic is
Abun d'bashmayo.
This was the language spoken by Jesus and listening to this video gives me goose bumps for some reason.
I find it very moving.
I find it very moving.
I like it- It's good / better than Latin !!
Would the Pope consider changing to the Aramaic version when he visits the UK ?
God Speaks to Each of Us
God speaks to each of us before we are,
Before he's formed us -- then, in cloudy speech,
But only then, he speaks these words to each
And silently walks with us from the dark:
Driven by your senses, dare
To the edge of longing.
Grow
Like a fire's shadowcasting glare
Behind assembled things, so you can spread
Their shapes on me as clothes.
Don't leave me bare.
Before he's formed us -- then, in cloudy speech,
But only then, he speaks these words to each
And silently walks with us from the dark:
Driven by your senses, dare
To the edge of longing.
Grow
Like a fire's shadowcasting glare
Behind assembled things, so you can spread
Their shapes on me as clothes.
Don't leave me bare.
Let it all happen to you: beauty and dread.
Simply go - no feeling is too much -
And only this way can we stay in touch.
Near here is the land
That they call Life.
You'll know when you arrive
By how real it is.
Give me your hand.
Simply go - no feeling is too much -
And only this way can we stay in touch.
Near here is the land
That they call Life.
You'll know when you arrive
By how real it is.
Give me your hand.
Rainer Maria Rilke
Deuteronomy 33:27 "The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms".
"Prayer should be the breath of our breathing, the thought of our thinking, the soul of our feeling, and the life of our living, the sound of our hearing, the growth of our growing."
Prayer in its magnitude is length without end, width without bounds,
height without top, and depth without bottom.
Illimitable in its breadth, exhaustless in height, fathomless in depths and infinite in extension." — H.W. Hodge

One Safe Place
by Marc Cohn / Phil Galdston
How many roads you've travelled
How many dreams you've chased
Across sand and sky and gravel
Looking for one safe place
Will you make a smoother landing
When you break your fall from grace
Into the arms of understanding
Looking for one safe place
Life is trial by fire
And love's the sweetest taste
And I pray it lifts us higher
To one safe place
How many roads we've travelled
How many dreams we've chased
Across sand and sky and gravel
Looking for one safe place
