Today's Gospel for Monday is the Healing of the Roman Centurion's Servant and is the memorial of the Saint John Chrysostum .
Chrysostum means "golden mouthed " and so he is fittingly the Patron Saint of Preachers.

The gospel encounter between Jesus and the Roman Centurion who implores for healing on his servant’s behalf is a story of powerful faith because in the account by Luke they never actually meet .Instead messages are sent via the Jews from the centurion to plead for the life of his slave but servants stop Jesus before he reaches the home of the centurion.
The phrase we say before we receive Communion is taken from this parable :
“Lord, I am not worthy to receive you. But only say the word and I shall be healed”.
An interesting reflection is here

The final paragraph gives me much food for thought......

I'll leave you all with this quote...
A woman can say more in a sigh than a man can say in a sermon.
