It is no secret that Pope Benedict XVI loves music , especially Mozart and he can play the piano. One of the things I especially look forward to during his visit will be the music, the celebrations of the Mass and the various choirs including the youth.
Some people may be surprised to know that Pope Benedict has released a CD called Alma Mater: a stirring and highly emotional collection of eight original pieces of modern classical music. It is the first time that the Voice of Pope Benedict XVI has been captured on disc, speaking and singing in Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French and German, thanks to the audio recordings of Vatican Radio. Proceeds from the album sales will be used to provide music education for underprivileged children around the world.
The album features His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, reciting and singing passages and prayers, accompanied by The Choir of the Philharmonic Academy of Rome, conducted by Monsignor Pablo Colino, Maestro Emeritus of St. Peter's Basilica and recorded in St Peter's Basilica.

The video below shows Pope Benedict in Australia and a Youth Choir from Sidney 2008
and I find this very moving ....The Voices Of Peace choir singing at the Reception for Pope Benedict XVI at President Peres Residence, 11th May 2009, Jerusalem.
Whatever our differences, whatever I may like or dislike.... this last video always uplifts me in my Catholic faith.
It was the anthem for The World Youth Gathering.I fervently pray that the Pope has a safe journey to the UK tomorrow and that we will all welcome him in the peace of The Holy Spirit and the love of Jesus Christ.
