Carlo Caretto

At the age of 44, after a prominent career as a Catholic activist, Carlo Caretto was summoned by a voice that said:

"Leave everything, come with me into the desert. I don't want your action any longer, I want your prayer, your love."

Carlo responded by leaving for North Africa, where he joined the Little Brothers of Jesus and embraced the example of Charles de Foucauld.

As I have rheumatoid arthritis I am unable to sustain and "do" all the things I would like to do for others and this is hard for me to accept sometimes and when I feel frustrated and discouraged Carlo Caretto's way of being has much to teach me.
