UPDATE LCWR A Spectrum of Opinion

It is a hard task to keep up with the flush of news and opinions on the Vatican rebuke of LCWR, Leadership Conference of Women Religious, the Association of the Leaders of Congregations of Catholic Women Religious in the United States but here are a pick of the crop.

  • NCR article by Phyllis Zagano The Vatican and The LCWR
** UPDATE 24/04

  • Sisters Under Scrutiny is a new NCR blog that aims to be your one stop site gathering the latest news, actions and reactions arising from the Vatican ordered reform of the LCWR.

  • Also visit the Support our Catholic sisters Facebook page. The sisters hope this page will become a space sisters can turn to for inspiration and that the sisters’ supports can use to organize that support.

So thanks to my friend Fran Rossi for sending me  this useful link SisterNews.net which is updated regularly to give a spectrum of articles and opinion in one place.

These are two selections from Sister News today which are well worth looking at :

Notre Dame history professor Scott Appleby,  about why he thinks the Church's crackdown on the nuns is inappropriate and humiliating.

Annmarie Sanders, IHM and LCWR Director of Communications says :

"This is a moment of great import for religious life and the wider church. We ask your prayers as we meet with the LCWR National Board within the coming month to review the mandate and prepare a response."
