Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) is commemorated on 27th January each year
throughout the world.
The 27th of January was chosen as it is the anniversary of the day in 1945 on which the Soviet Army liberated the largest Nazi concentration camp - Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland.
The Council of Christians and Jews working with Churches Together in Britain and Ireland produced a number of resources for Christian clergy to use with their congregations to commemorate the event.
Each year HMD has a theme - the theme for 2013 is 'Communities Together: Build a Bridge'.
