Evening Prayer at The End Of Day

Pope Francis has admitted nodding off while praying at the end of a long fatiguing day, but said he thought God "understands".

After a busy and tiring morning I've been dozing for a few hours on this beautifully warm sunny June day in Cornwall, so I'm offering these : John Henry Cardinal Newman's prayer for a holy rest at the end of the day and a repost of a lovely evening end of day prayer / song. Wishing all a restful night !

May He support us all the day long,

till the shades lengthen and the evening comes,

and the busy world is hushed,

and the fever of life is over,

and our work is done.

Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging,

and a holy rest and peace at the last.
