Friday Music Bonus Summer Song

Summer officially begins today. From this point on until the Winter Solstice in December, the length of daylight will be decreasing.

But the loss of daylight is very slow and hardly noticeable for a while. By the end of July, we only lose a total of 52 minutes of daylight. This averages out to be just a little over a minute per day.

But the song below says the summer day is long ; maybe because it 's a time of year when we can make the time to slow down and savour rest and peace a little more.
As the wonderful W.B. Yeats poem here says :

"And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow..."

 Have a great weekend everyone,
wherever you are and whatever the weather,
I hope like Yeats you can take some space to listen ...

"to hear the lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While you stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
You will hear it in the deep heart's core."

  Summer Song

Love, to me, is like a summer day
Silent 'cause, there's just too much to say
Still, and warm, and peaceful,
Even clouds that may drift by
Can't disturb our summer sky

I'll take summer, that's my time of year
Winter's shadows, seems to disappear
Gay is swanny season,
That's the reason I can say
That I love a summer day

I hear laughter from the swimming hole
Kids out fishin', with the willow pole
Boats come driftin', round the bend
Why must summer, ever end...

Love, to me, is like a summer day
If it ends, the memories will stay
Still, and warm, and peaceful,
Now the days are getting long
I can sing my summer song

I hear laughter, from the swimmin' hole
Kids out fishin', with the willow pole
Boats come driftin', round the bend
Why must summer, ever end...

Oh, love to me, is like a summer's day
If it ends, the memories will stay
Still, and warm, and peaceful
Now the days are getting long
I can sing, my summer song
