"He shall judge between the nations,
and impose terms on many peoples.
They shall beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks;
one nation shall not raise the sword against another,
nor shall they train for war again."

I'm away for the first two Sundays of Advent so I've picked out a few posts from the archives with reflections on the Advent Journey.

2nd SUNDAY ADVENT

Theme for Second Week of Advent is Love

Scripture Readings for Mass are here

Reading 1 Extract from Isaiah
11.1-2,10.
"A shoot shall come out from the stock of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. The spirit of the Lord shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. … On that day the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal to the peoples; the nations shall enquire of him, and his dwelling shall be glorious. Advent Poem
Sr. Christine Schenk, CSJ

I wait
with quickened hope
for crooked paths
to straighten,
with tough-soul'd
anguish,
while blinded
keepers of the keys
shut out
God's own.
(If such a thing were possible.)

I wait,
and will not be
dismayed.
For a tiny shoot
of Jesse tree
took root in me
to love,
transform,
give sight
set free.
