Irish Blessing (Beannacht) for All Souls Day

This is a beautiful poem for All Souls Day.

This video is unusual because it features the late John O' Donohue introducing his beautiful poem Beannacht : Gaelic for Blessing, in person.

I have an audio version of this poem somewhere from On Being, but this video of the "man himself " speaking is a gift.

Noun: Hermeneutics

the branch of knowledge that deals with interpretation, especially of the Bible or literary texts.

But what he says about "the hermeneutics of presence" here, is something dear to the Celtic and Catholic imagination and November is a special month to practice it.
It's something that will hopefully stay with me in Advent too.

"For all of us and absent friends and loved ones"

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord
and let your perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace,
 Amen.
