Funeral Blues and then Sunshine

Yesterday was draining. After attending a funeral service " to die for " with over three hundred attending I felt completely worn out.

Colin must have been feeling even more shattered as he had to help carry the coffin shoulder high as well as help meet and greet everyone.

Two funerals in a month and we know so many people with life threatening illnesses who are fighting so hard at this time and need our prayers.

So this morning we went to St Ives for Mass and then had a lovely quiet lunch in the sunshine at Porthgwidden beach cafe. It was so good for Colin and I to just be together and be thankful for so much good life and many blessings.

Saturday in St Ives

Saturday was unexpectedly a sunny day and we had a great time wandering and strolling on the beaches.

There was a very low tide and the mussels on the rocks were exposed in their multitudes.

The view of St Ives bay from St Nicholas chapel was glorious.

We had a lovely lunch outside at the Porthminster beach cafe

Colin had Squid and I had Caesar Salad.

Tonight we are going to see A Festival Of New Writing( 4 prize winning plays) presented by Hydrae Productions;
these have been selected from an open competition for new writing.

Indian Summer here in Cornwall

The sun has been shining since Thursday and every deckchair on the harbour beach front was taken - the first time for 8 years according to Ron the deckchair man.
Beautiful, just beautiful.

Saturday St Ives

Kids R Us Dad's Army

Last night we went to see Dad's Army at the Kids R Us Theatre in St Ives (Cornwall).

The performance was by the "adult" section of the group and was a new staging of the 2007 production featuring three hilarious episodes from the TV series with Captain Mainwaring and his company of endearingly incompetent soldiers.

It was an excellent production and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The casting was fantastic and the physical resemblance of each actor to the well known TV series characters was wonderful. The voices and characterisation were exceptional and it could easily be shown in the West End.
